TOM NOLLE

CIMI CORPORATION

The relationship between content delivery, service-layer technology, and the cloud is highly symbiotic because that's the only way for providers to build reusable assets in monetizing new opportunities. Verivue offers a vision of content delivery that's both componentized for service layer integration and virtualized for compatibility with cloud infrastructure. That makes them a critical resource in a critical market space." MORE >

Origin Server

Origin Server is a cloud-based replicated HTTP object store used to persistently store media content for content origination within a CDN. It supports file ingest from content management systems via multiple ingest protocols and originates that content for both linear and VOD applications. In essence, Origin Server provides the root of the CDN hierarchy and serves cache misses from multiple CDN tiers downstream. Based on standard HTTP delivery, it offers a scale-out architecture for redundancy and storage expansion in which several nodes are interconnected to form a common store cluster with a single virtualized namespace.

Its key features and benefits include:

Resiliency and High-Performance

Origin Server is designed to provide multiple levels of redundancy, employing both mirroring and automatic failover to achieve high levels of fault tolerance. At the same time, Origin Server leverages the same scalability techniques employed by HyperCache to achieve high performance in delivering that content to end-users. This provides a unique combination of resiliency and performance.

Full CDN Integration

Origin Server supports a simple back-end file system interface that is easy to integrate into a content provider's content management workflow. At the same time, Origin Server front-end interface is implemented by the same HyperCache technology deployed throughout the rest of caching hierarchy. This results in a highly optimized interaction between Origin Server and the rest of the CDN.
