VoD Streamer

The VoD Streamer family is a solid-state edge platform for the delivery of high value media to legacy cable & IPTV set-tops. VoD Streamer supports intelligent edge caching to enable virtually unlimited content libraries when deployed as part of a full CDN solution. It can be deployed in a scale out fashion in either clusters of modular 3RU shelves or in a 14RU chassis-based blade platform. Key features and benefits include:

Full CDN Integration

The Verivue VoD Streamer allows an operator to leverage a uniform HTTP-based CDN for content distribution within the network. In fact, it functions as a gateway between HTTP nodes in the core and UDP streaming towards the subscribers. The core of the CDN may be built using standard HyperCache clusters serving multiple applications, essentially bridging the gap between legacy VoD streaming and HTTP-based delivery techniques.

Comprehensive Integration with VoD Ecosystems

The Verivue VoD Streamer supports a mix of popular back office systems, including Ericsson's OpenStream Digital Services Platform (DSP), Seachange eventIS and others, all while enabling full CDN integration. It allows operators to retain their existing back-office choices and introduce CDN capabilities for library expansion in a seamless fashion. VoD Streamer has been successfully tested with a variety of leading set-top boxes and supports multi-speed trick modes across the CDN.

High Density and Availability

Based on a high-density, solid-state platform with strategic hardware offloads to address the stringent delivery requirements of set-top boxes, VoD Streamer offers lower power, cooling and space requirements than competing solutions. Several high-availability features are included as part of the platform including redundant power, fans, and network interfaces. Storage redundancy is provided using a unique RAID scheme that protects against drive failures and maintains cached content in the case of power loss.
